I am able to muster up empathy for most people, but not those who take advantage of young girls, and cast them aside like rubbish when they’re done. Ghislaine Maxwell is human garbage. And her being convicted on 5 of the 6 charges can’t undo the damage she has done, but it is at least some justice. I hope she serves every hour of her sentences.

One of the sex trafficking charges was due to the testimony of one woman who said Maxwell touched her naked body and said she would make a great treat for “Epstein and his friends”. She was only 14 years old. This particular testimony makes my stomach knot up, and I get a lump in my throat; my daughter is 14.

I hope Maxwell suffers for the rest of her life, and all of Epstein’s “friends” they passed those young girls around to suffer the same. Shame on all of them – ALL of them. No matter how much the world may admire them, how great their prestige, power, or position, they are vile, immoral trash.

My respect and empathy are reserved for the survivors who bravely stood up and told their stories, reliving the trauma, and having people questioning their validity. I can’t imagine what emotions they must be feeling.

As a survivor of sexual abuse, I can tell you, you do not forget. Trauma sears it into your brain and your body forever. The people who commit the abuse might forget the details, but the survivors do not.

If someone tells you they’ve been sexually abused, believe them. Even if it’s years after the event, believe them. They’ve been living with that ugliness inside of them, and it takes some people a long time to muster up the strength to say something.
